It has to be said that Dan Pink is getting to the grist of things here in terms of motivation, and the next steps are what this means for all the other aspects of our system.
I think in regard to purpose, which he doesn't focus much upon, that we have a common one of 'fulfilment without harm' or as he quotes at one point in a less precise phrase, "making the world a better place" - this is what all organisations, including government, including individuals, need to aim for, and it should be a common aim we are all conscious of; but to make it a reality we need a system that is structured so that we can all make our best contributions, so that we can all achieve the "mastery" that fulfills us. We don't have this system yet (not by a longshot). That is why I wrote The Common Purpose Manifesto, to offer up ideas on a system that might well make fulfilment without harm a reality for all of us.
Below is Dan Pink's talk on drive and motivation for the RSA. Do watch.
